It has been announced that anime A Couple of Cuckoos season 2 (Kakkou no Iinazuke) based on the romantic comedy manga by Miki Yoshikawa, which is serialized in ‘Weekly Shonen Magazine’ (Kodansha), will start in July. A teaser visual featuring the new character Ai Mochizuki, who wedges herself between Nagi Umino and Erika Amano (both with birthdays on April 6th), has also been released. Hina Yomiya will voice Ai Mochizuki. Masakazu Hishida will direct the second season, with Yuzuru Aoba in charge of series composition.
Director Hishida commented, “As the original work is very interesting, I want to bring out its charm to the fullest. I hope you will look forward to how the character Ai, who appears in this series, creates drama and noise within the four-way relationship of Nagi, Erika, Hiro, and Sachi. Although this TV series is the second season, it’s created so that you can easily watch it even without knowing the previous story, so please enjoy it with peace of mind!’.
Ms. Yomiya said, ‘Ai-chan has her own unique atmosphere and pace, and I was drawn to the adorable smiles and cool performances she shows at crucial moments, becoming more and more fascinated with her as I read on. A Couple of Cuckoos’ is a manga by Miki Yoshikawa, known for works like ‘Yankee-kun to Megane-chan’ and ‘Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches,’ which is serialized in ‘Weekly Shonen Magazine’ (Kodansha). It depicts the love story of Nagi Umino, a second-year high school student attending a prestigious private school, and Erika Amano, a super high-class high school girl. The first season of the TV anime aired from April to October 2022.
